Product Description
India has a census for everything. Cattle. Tigers. Humans. Not pet dogs.
We at thePack.in have spent six years educating dog parents and built a community of 16,000 dog parents and a library of over 1,000 articles written by certified canine experts. We spend most of our days answering the questions of 1000s of dog parents from all over the country.
Which is why, we knew that if anyone can solve the problem of a dog census, it had to be us.
Between December 2024 and February 2025, we surveyed 1,463 dog parents who told us what raising a dog in India is actually like. The survey was built by Namratha R, certified canine behaviourist, the data was analysed by Dr. Priyanka P, PhD in population studies, and the report was written by certified canine behaviourist Shivani K and illustrated by UX researcher Jahnavi K.
The Indian Dog Parenting Report is the culmination of this monumental task. It consists of 12 hard hitting chapters that cover everything from how dogs are brought home, how they are raised, the behaviour/nutrition/health issues they face and the societal friction/infrastructure issues that are holding dog parents back from raising their dogs well.
The overarching finding of this report is troubling - the relationship that dog parents share with their dogs has grown and matured faster than the ecosystem around them. Most of the report goes into proving this disconnect and then enumerating the gaps.
