What makes a lamb trotter nutritionally unique is its structure - not its muscle meat.

A trotter is almost entirely connective tissue: bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and thick skin. Very little muscle meat. This makes it nutritionally different from a standard protein treat.

Collagen (Type I)

Lamb trotters are a tich source of Type I collagen - the structural protein found in skin, tendons, ligaments, and bone. Unlike cooking (which converts collagen to gelatin at 70°C+), low-temperature dehydration preserves the native collagen structure.

Glucosamine & Chondroitin

Cartilage in trotters naturally contains both glucosamine and chondroitin. Exact amounts per piece vary and are not clinically quantified — so this treat is not a replacement for a dedicated joint supplement. Think of it as a functional food contribution, not a therapeutic dose.

Minerals

Bone and cartilage are rich in calcium and phosphorus. Small amounts of zinc, iron, magnesium, and selenium are also present. • Day 1 - Offer 1 piece. Let your dog chew in a calm, comfortable spot without distraction. Avoid introducing any other new food on this day.
